Why are two doses given?
Two doses of the MMR vaccine are given to provide immunity to the 2-5% of people who fail to develop immunity after the first dose

Who should receive this vaccine?

The MMR vaccine can protect children and adults from all three of these diseases. All children should receive the vaccine at the scheduled time. Anyone 18 years or older who was born after 1956 should get at least one dose of the MMR vaccine unless you can show you have either been vaccinated or have had all three diseases.


Who shouldn't receive this vaccine?
Anybody with a life-threatening allergy to neomycin or any component of the vaccine, or had a life-threatening allergic reaction to a previous dose of MMR or MMRV vaccine should not receive another dose. If a patient is ill at the time of the vaccine, thy should wait until they recover to receive the vaccine. Pregnant women shouldn't receive the vaccine until after giving birth.

What to expect?

Patient may experience pain and redness at the injection site, and joint pain. If you feel that your child is experience an serious adverse reaction, call your health care provider immediately.
